General Aung San was a hero as he helped Myanmar gain independence. Myanmar, then Burma, was at first a British colony. He thought about independence for Myanmar instead of just having a comfortable career under the colonial government. He is very brave to do that as the British forces was very strong at that time. During the war, he gathered 29 men to Japan with him to receive military training on Hainan Island, China, and they came to be known as the "Thirty Comrades".
He was the president after the British backed out , but six months later, he got assassinated.
General Aung San is a hero as without him, there would be no more Myanmar, his deeds are just like what lee Kuan yew did which is fighting for the freedom and independence of their country.
In this video from 5:02-9:30 shows the journey Aung San had to go through, including a word about General Aung San from his daughter, Aung San Su Kyi.
